Rotherham’s new £20m stadium with a capacity of 12,000 has certainly put the club on the map. The stadium also incorporates the exhibiting and banqueting space for around 600 guests. The stadium is certainly an attractive venue for the players, staff and fans.

The brand new refurbished stadium includes improvements to the main building on the west side of the ground and the construction of a brand new east stand to used by both the athletics and rugby fans. Built to combine modern technology with the best traditions of the sport, the complex comprises wider seating, an indoor training area which can be converted into a match-day bar with screens showing other games, a new PA system, a children’s crèche, shops and food outlets.

The stunning refurbishment of the Kensington Leisure Centre is part of the large scale regeneration in the local area worth around £50m. The lesiure centre incorporates three swimming pools, a 250 seat capacity spectating gallery, squash courts, a gym and a multi use sports hall. The architects studio e stated “The building designs were inspired by the educational vision and the constrained urban location. The building adopts a “ribbon” configuration, weaving around existing trees and preserving precious Public Realm”

This £25.5m hotel is situated in the heart of Manchester located close to the Piccadilly train station. The 14 story building with over 300 rooms fits in well with the Manchester skyline. The facade for each room has a floor to ceiling glazed panel allowing optimum light into the room.

The £36m facility enhances the leisure in the town incorporating a new indoor waterpark, gym facility, 25m competition pool and a teaching pool. The new facilities will be a huge boost for the town centre, with the hope of attracting more people.
This project is a £3m wedding chapel with an optimal location of Blackpool’s promenade. The architects ‘de Rijke Marsh Morgan’ said that ‘the town has a highly developed mix of the familiar and the surreal; it has a great sense of the mock monumental’. This is what the architects have attempted to encapsulate in the design of this building. De Rijke also stated the reason that he is most proud of the building. ‘the absence of what you usually see in public buildings: ducts and vents everywhere.’
The revolutionary design of the Redcar leisure centre combines new leisure, civic facilities and a business centre into a single comprenhensive facility in the heart of Redcar. The architect S&P claim that this is an example of one of the most unique forms of community based regeneration in the UK.
The facade incorporates a comprehensive range of Dualtherm® insultating glass units, Dualspan® ceramic panels and Fritlite® silk screen glasses.Working closely with the architectual design team the glass facade required a variety of heat gain differentials which was accomodated by using high performance Coolite® SKN products and Planitherm ‘Ultra’ N Low E. The residential part of the building required a solar factor of 0.4 which was satisfied by using SKN 174, the fitness suite and council debating chamber were heavily geared towards reducing heat gain and the use of SKN 144 was an ideal solution. Planitherm Low e was introduced in all other areas where thermal efficiency was the key driver.
The history of the Redcar steel industry was represented on the facade by the development and introduction of a unique silk screen design that shows steel in it’s molecular form.

The new £9m Selby Leisure centre contains many world class facilities such as the new 25 metre, six lane swimming pool and new fitness area. The new leisure centres will rejuvenate the Selby area whilst providing new opportunities for the community.

The new £16m Knowsley Leisure centre will be home to two new swimming pools, gym, spa, dance studio and beauty treatment areas. The facilities also contain a conference centre with a capacity of 900 people.

Chelsea state of the art Cobham training ground is one of the cutting edge facilities in the whole of Europe. According to the Chelsea staff, the training ground ‘reflects the professionalism and the high standards of the club.’ The building creates a modern environment designed to encourage players and staff to contiunously move forward in football. The new building includes new treatment rooms, gyms and rehabilitation centres.
The architect AFL have stated ‘Our aim with the glazing was to articulate and separate the layered elements of the facade and to allow lots of natural day light into the upper floors. It is visually very successful.’
